Who loves granola? (I do, I do!) It’s healthy, yet delicious. It’s good for breakfast or as a snack. It’s great on yogurt or fruit, with milk, in a smoothie, or just by itself!. And it’s super easy to make in bulk (which, in our house, is a necessity because we go through it pretty quickly).
Nope, you can’t go wrong with granola. And after trying and tweaking several recipes, I’ve settled on one that blows other granola out of the water.
I’ve shared it several times (on social media and in person), and I included it in this post of 15 real food make-ahead breakfasts. But it’s always so popular, I thought it was time it got its own post.
I love this recipe because not only is it DELICIOUS, but it uses all real food ingredients, doesn’t require a ton of time or steps, and is easily customizable for whatever I happen to have on hand.

THE BEST GRANOLA EVER
MAPLE PECAN GRANOLA
Ingredients
- 4 cups old-fashioned oats
- 1 cups nuts You can use any combination you want! My favorites are pecans and cashews but walnuts or almonds are good, too.
- 1/2 cup flax meal
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/3 cup coconut oil
- 2/3 cup pure maple syrup warmed so it doesn’t cause the coconut oil to re-solidify
- 1/4 tsp salt
- Optional addition ideas: sunflower seeds, pepitas, coconut, dried raisins or cranberries (add after baking)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 300 degrees F.
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
- Mix oats, nuts, flax meal, and cinnamon in a large bowl.
- Stir coconut oil, maple syrup, and salt together in a small bowl, then pour over the oat mixture and stir to coat evenly.
- Spread evenly onto the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake until lightly browned, about 40 minutes.
Side note: This granola makes a lovely gift, as well! I have made it for a few friends after they’ve had a baby (oats and flax are both great for milk production, so it’s a great gift for a breastfeeding momma).
Put some in a mason jar, tie a ribbon around it, and voila! You’ve got yourself a lovely gift that’s sure to be a hit. (Bonus points if you add a tag with the recipe.)
If you love granola but don’t love the usual price tag, try making it yourself with this recipe. Then, be sure to leave a comment telling me how it went. I’d love to hear if you enjoy it as much as we do!
