I’ve loved books for as long as I can remember. In fact, I don’t even remember not reading! As a kid, I read in every room and position conceivable, book orders were my favorite thing to bring home from school, and I always, always, ALWAYS carried a book with me. (That one hasn’t changed!)

I still love to read, and I do it any and every change I get. But I’ve found another, equally-fervent passion: encouraging a love of reading in others! I’m delighted by seeing fellow bookworms, especially when they’re young ones, and I’ve made it one of my life’s missions to fuel that reading fire.

The Best Gifts for Bookworms (of Any Age)

From more reading material (ALWAYS appreciated!) to reading accessories to unique gift ideas that celebrate their favorite hobby, here are my best gift ideas for bookworms.

BOOKS!

It seems almost too obvious, I know, but the very best gift for bookworms is… books! Trust me, true bookworms don’t ever get tired of receiving more books. We can NEVER have too many!

Gift Cards

If you don’t have a list of specific books to get for your favorite book fanatic, a gift card is probably the way to go. As a major bookworm, myself, this is honest-to-goodness one of my favorite gifts to receive. Gift cards enable me to pick out my own books, which is truly at least half the fun. So, really… it’s like two gifts in one!

And don’t forget about Audible Gift Memberships!! We may love to “read with our eyes” (as my 4-year-old always says), but most of us also love to read with our ears! Basically… we get our books any way we can. 😉 So, an Audible Gift Membership would make a great gift for bookworms of any age.

Tote For Their Books

A super cute tote bag for their books would be a great gift for any book-lover. They can use it for library hauls, to take on trips (I always have a designated “book bag”), for school (if they’re students or educators), or for any number of other occasions.

I love this one for kids and this one for adults from Amazon, and Etsy has tons of lovely personalized options. (I’m currently trying to decide on one for myself!)

Reading Journal

Several years ago, I started keeping a log of all the books I read. I did it partly to remember which ones I had already read (have you ever started a book and realized, “I’ve read this before!”??), partly to see how many books I read each year, and partly to be able to look back on later for reflection and recommendations.

And I am SO glad I started doing that. It’s one of the best decisions I’ve ever made! I consult past lists all the time, especially as I recommend books to people, which I’m asked to do on a regular basis.

I’ve just been using a cheap notebook, but a special reading log or journal would be a great gift for bookworms. I wish I would have done that from the start, actually. For a passionate book enthusiast like me, it would be a keepsake!

Here’s one I love for kids, and one for adults.

Book-Lover Apparel

If you want to get your favorite bookworm a gift that’s “book-adjacent,” my best recommendation is to get them some kind of book/reader apparel. A t-shirt or sweatshirt that advertises their love for reading or socks that tell people to leave them to it 😉 are certain to bring a smile to their face.

Book Pouches

When I’m out and about, I like to transport my books in a pouch my MIL made for me. (I had asked her to make it for my planner, actually, but when I discovered it was a tad too small for that, I repurposed it for my books. And it’s perfect!) The pouch protects my books from dents and dings, and it keeps my highlighters and pens handy for underlining and note-taking!

Here’s a super cute one on Amazon, but you can find custom-made ones on Etsy, as well.

Book Decor

You could also get your bookworm some book-lover decor for their room or home! Consider signs like this one or these fun pillows. I’m also completely in love with these blankets, and I think I might have to get one for myself.

Mugs & Tumblers

What goes better with books than a cozy hot drink, right? There are so many fun mugs and tumblers perfect for people who love books. Or go the cold drink route with these super fun glass beverage containers!

Book Puzzle

Every once in a while, even the most ardent book lovers need to take a break from their books and do something else. 😉 When they do, perhaps a book cover puzzle would be just the thing!

Small Gifts for Bookworms

If you need a stocking stuffer or something to round out a nice gift basket, here are my favorite small gifts for bookworms:

  • Book stickers (for water bottles, coffee mugs, computers, notebooks, etc.) – I’ve gotten some lovely ones from Etsy!
  • Book stamps and book plates
  • Bookmarks — I love these animal ones for kids!
  • Book lights
