As a Christian mother who desires for her children to love and serve the Lord, it is imperative that I work on my own relationship with God. That I constantly seek the Lord and examine my own heart.
Because kids are smart. They can tell when we’re not putting our money where our mouths are. And the damage it does to our witness and our integrity in their eyes is catastrophic.
That’s why I’m always working towards a deeper, stronger, and more authentic faith in God — in who He is, what He can do, and how He wants to use me.
And one of my most recent reads is helping me do just that.
That book was For All Who Wander by Robin Dance, and this is my review.

Summary of For All Who Wander
“Lord, I believe. Help my unbelief!” (Mark 9:24)
Her circumstances might not have been as dramatic as the father asking Jesus for a miracle, but Robin felt just as desperate in her faith. Yet feeling lost in a spiritual desert, this was the most honest prayer she could offer. Can you relate to struggling in your faith but longing to believe?
Faith is tidy and neat for some, never unwavering and always so sure. And maybe that’s how you used to feel — before the heartbreak or challenges or exhaustion of life set it—but now your once-sure beliefs are less certain, the prescribed Sunday school answers no longer enough.
Inviting you to find hope and healing in your own story within the pages of hers, in For All Who Wander, Robin Dance will help you:
- Abandon the guilt and shame attached to your questions or doubts.
- Broaden your understanding of God’s unrelenting faithfulness.
- Reframe your view of difficulties and disappointments as you understand their redemptive and transformative value.
- Trust that God is working in your wandering to restore and strengthen your faith.
As you walk through Robin’s story with her, you’ll discover that sometimes wandering is the path that leads you back to God.
What Did I Think of For All Who Wander?
When I first started reading, much of this book could have been written straight from the pages of my life. Not the later particulars, but the people pleasing and the legalism and the testimony envy? Yes, yes, and yes. And her later struggle with idols and doubt? Also yes.
Thankfully, I’ve emerged from that dark place, and I now have a rich relationship with God. Probably the best it has ever been.
And I did it the same way she did — by getting on my knees and getting honest. I sought the Lord, even when I wasn’t fully certain He was even there to be found. But find him, I did.

If I wasn’t in that place already, though, this book would be a lifesaver. I can’t overstate how much this book would have helped me in my floundering.
Even on solid ground, though, I found new perspectives on my wanderings and new ways to use my experiences to help others. Because nothing is wasted when used by Him.
And I still have a lot of life left, which means I still have a lot of mountains to climb and valleys to traverse. But learning how to reframe them will help me trust God through it all.
This book was not only helpful to me, personally, but it also gave me a greater compassion for others wrestling with doubts. (Those people might even be my kids one day, so it was a necessary reminder not to push or panic if that happens, but rather to trust God with their hearts.) Our stories of faith are all different, and God can — and does — use them all.
I highly recommend this book for all believers. If you’ve never struggled with doubt or uncertainty (and wow if you haven’t!), then you most certainly know someone who has, and this book could be just the thing to equip you to help them through it.
