Have you heard about the incredible way to save that is Amazon Prime Day? It’s a shopping event where Amazon Prime members can shop hundreds of thousands of deals site-wide and potentially save hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars on all their shopping needs. It has become such a big deal, it almost eclipses the monolithic shopping day that is Black Friday. Almost.

When is Prime Day?
Prime Day 2019 will begin at 12am PT on Monday, July 15 and will run through Tuesday, July 16.
How do I participate?
These deals are only available for Prime members, so in order to take advantage of these incredible deals, you will need to sign up, if you haven’t already.
Don’t want to pay for Amazon Prime? (I understand — it took me several years before I took the plunge, too!) No problem!
You can sign up for the free 30-day free trial and then cancel anytime.
Did you hear that? You can save on your entire wish list without paying a dime for Amazon Prime!
Why Should I Participate?
You certainly don’t have to participate in Prime Day. Trust me, I am not one to encourage people to spend unnecessary money — especially when it’s not in their budget. Be smart — don’t spend money on something you don’t need simply because it’s a good deal!
But if there’s something you’ve been planning to get or have been wanting for a while, now is the perfect time to get it more cheaply!
Also, it’s a great time to start stocking up on Christmas presents. Great deals mean you can get better presents within the same budget!

What Deals Should I Watch For?
There will be deals on just about everything you could imagine across all of Amazon.
My advice, though, is to look for sales on:
- Things you really love
- Things you’ve been wanting but have been outside of your budget
- Things that will potentially save you the most money (think those big-ticket items you’ve been needing)
Here are some other deals to take advantage of:
FREE 3-month Kindle Unlimited Trial
Get some great summer reads for FREE with Kindle Unlimited! Normally $9.99 a month, you can get 3 months free right now.
Tip: Set a reminder in your phone to cancel in three months so you don’t get charged.
$5 Amazon credit with purchase of $25 Amazon gift cards
Buy a $25 Amazon gift card (you can use it for yourself — it’s almost as good as cash!) and get a $5 Amazon credit. Use promo code GCPRIME19 at checkout.
$5 off qualifying $15 book purchases with promo code PRIMEBOOK19
$5 off any $50 Amazon order (fulfilled and shipped by Amazon) with promo code SHIP2ME
How to Prepare for Prime Day
Technically, Prime Day doesn’t start until Monday at midnight, but you can start getting ready for it now!
To get notified when sneak peek deals start, make sure that you have your Amazon App notification turned on.
Tap the app’s main menu (three bars in the upper left corner). Then tap “Settings”, then “Notifications”, and enable “Personalized Notifications”.
“Watch” A Deal
Get notified when the deals you like go live!
The “Watch A Deal” notification lets you know when your deal is about to start.
In the top left app menu, tap “Today’s Deals”, then the “UPCOMING” tab. Find a deal that you want and tap “Watch this deal” to get notified when it starts.

Click on a few of my suggestions below to start shopping. Look around, do your research, and make your final decisions.
Then, all this weekend, load up your cart with the things you want to get. That way, when the lightning deals start with limited quantities, all you have to do is check out!
My Top Deals to Watch For
My love for my Instant Pot is fierce and well-known around here. It saves me hours in the kitchen, saves me money in utility costs, and makes the most tender, flavorful meat I’ve ever eaten. What’s not to love?
Psst… After you get yours, be sure to check out all my Instant Pot posts!
I love my Roomba. It was a godsend when we got it almost three years ago. In the spirit of full disclosure, the old girl’s getting pretty worn out now, but it held up through a LOT of heavy use. And I’ve told my husband many times that even if I have to get a new one every few years, it’s still 100% worth it to me.
I am rarely without my Fitbit Charge. I love this thing. It detects my heart rate for more accurate fitness tracking, keeps me accountable to move throughout the day, and, of course, tells the time. I get a lot of use out of the app, too, with the sleep, exercise, and water tracking. The latest version even enables you to track fertility and menstrual cycles. What???
Oh, and be sure to sign up for the FREE Achievement app so you can get paid to get healthy!
Full sets of pots and pans are an expensive investment, so if you’re needing a set, now is the perfect time to get it. This is the set I have.
Magformers Magnet Tiles (or other pricey toys)
We have the Playmags brand of magnet tiles and LOVE them. But there’s almost always a sale on Magformers on Prime Day.
Yes, my Roomba is AWESOME, but there are times when I just want to vacuum a small section of floor (like under my kids’ chairs at the table #somanycrumbs) or around all the toys (just being real). My Dyson stick vacuum is PERFECT for that. And the handheld part is super handy for the vehicle.
I hope that helps! As I said, I don’t want to push you to spend money you shouldn’t, but if there’s something you’ve been wanting or needing for a while, this is the perfect time to get it.
I hope my guide helps, and may the deals be ever in your favor this Prime Day.
P.S. Make sure you’re following The Merry Momma on Facebook because I’ll be sharing deals throughout the two days!
