One of the most important things we can do as Christian moms is be intentional about speaking life over our kids. The Bible says that “death and life are in the power of the tongue,” and we can powerfully impact our children’s lives and futures by the words we say — positively OR negatively.
So today, I want to talk about why this is so important, what kinds of things we should be speaking over them, and a brand-new book for kids that will help you put it all into practice in a fun way.

THE IMPORTANCE OF SPEAKING LIFE OVER YOUR KIDS
Why is it so important that we put thought and effort into the things we speak over our children? Why should we guard our mouths, carefully choose our words, and intentionally speak and pray life-giving truths over them?
God’s Word tells us over and over again that our words have incredible power. We can use them to bring blessings and life or curses and death. What a responsibility!
Here are just a few of the things that the Bible has to say about our words:
Scriptures About the Power of Our Words
Proverbs 18:21
Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits.
Proverbs 12:18
There is one whose rash words are like sword thrusts, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.
Proverbs 15:4
A gentle tongue is a tree of life, but perverseness in it breaks the spirit.
James 3:5
So also the tongue is a small member, yet it boasts of great things. How great a forest is set ablaze by such a small fire!
Psalm 19:14
“Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer.”
Proverbs 4:23
“Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life.”
We have such a wonderful privilege as Christian parents to speak life over our kids. And the more we do it, not only are our prayers heard by God, but our kids hear them, as well. And the more they are fed a steady diet of God’s promises and truths in their lives, the more they will be implanted in their hearts.
Unsure of where to start or what to say? Here are a few examples of things to speak over your children:

If speaking God’s Word over your children is something you desire to do, then you need to hear about a new book I recently received from Tyndale Kids to review. It’s called You Are, and it is one that should absolutely be in every Christian parent’s arsenal.
Let me tell you about it!
Review of YOU ARE
I absolutely loved this board book from Tyndale Kids. It was full of powerful affirmations and encouragement to speak over my kids. And each page was accompanied by a Scripture, which I liked.
What I really enjoyed about this book was that it was something we could read together. Did some of the language and wording go over their heads? Yes. But the fun illustrations captured their attention while I read the life-giving words to them.
It’s the perfect addition to a bedtime routine or other daily devotion ritual, especially for young children, and a wonderful way to imprint God’s promises and truths on their hearts.
**I received a complimentary copy of this book from Tyndale to review. All opinions are my own.
