I’m the second child, and as a kid, I made a promise to myself. One I swore up and down I would keep.
I’ll never forget the day when, while exploring through hidden treasures in the attic of my childhood home, I stumbled upon my sister’s baby book. I looked through it for a bit, then raced down the stairs to ask my mom where I’d find my own book.
I think you know where I’m going with this.
Her response was something along the lines of, “Umm … about that.”
In that moment, I vowed that when I had kids, my second child would get all the sentimental things my firstborn did. You know … baby books, calendars, pictures without his/her sibling …
And then I had said children.
And I found out there’s a reason moms have a hard time keeping up with all that stuff once the second child comes along. Especially if they’re not exactly predisposed to scrapbooking and memory-preserving activities in the first place. (ahem. me.)

That’s why it’s important to me that I continue a tradition on this blog I started two years ago — writing about my kids’ favorite things around their birthday. I have a post for Aidan’s 2-year, 3-year, and 4-year favorites, and now it’s time to carry on the tradition with Andrew!
In honor of his second birthday earlier this month, here are Andrew’s favorite things {2-year-old edition}!
