Have you heard about the incredible way to save that is Amazon Prime Day? It’s a shopping event where Amazon Prime members can shop hundreds of thousands of deals site-wide and potentially save hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars on all their shopping needs. It has become such a big deal, it almost eclipses the monolithic shopping day that is Black Friday. Almost.

When is Prime Day?
Prime Day 2018 will begin at 3 p.m. ET on Monday, July 16 and will run through Tuesday, July 17.
How do I participate?
These deals are only available for Prime members, so in order to take advantage of these incredible deals, you will need to sign up, if you haven’t already.
Don’t want to pay for Amazon Prime? (I understand — it took me several years before I took the plunge, too!) No problem!
You can sign up for the free 30-day free trial and then cancel anytime.
Did you hear that? You can save on your entire wish list without paying a dime for Amazon Prime!
Why Should I Participate?
You certainly don’t have to participate in Prime Day. Trust me, I am not one to encourage people to spend unnecessary money — especially when it’s not in their budget. Be smart — don’t spend money on something you don’t need simply because it’s a good deal!
But if there’s something you’ve been planning to get or have been wanting for a while, now is the perfect time to get it more cheaply! (I’ll share the deals I, personally, will be looking for in a moment!)
Also, it’s a great time to start stocking up on Christmas presents. Great deals mean you can get better presents within the same budget!

What Deals Should I Watch For?
There will be deals on just about everything you could imagine across all of Amazon.
My advice, though, is to look for sales on:
- Things you really love
- Things you’ve been wanting but have been outside of your budget
- Things that will potentially save you the most money (think those big-ticket items you’ve been needing)
Want to hear my suggestions? Below you’ll find the Top 5 things I already own and suggest you watch for, and the Top 3 things I personally have on my wish list.
But first …
How to Prepare for Prime Day
Technically, Prime Day doesn’t start until tomorrow at 3pm EST, but you can start getting ready for it now!
Click on a few of my suggestions below to start shopping. Look around, do your research, and make your final decisions. Then, all this weekend, load up your cart with the things you want to get. That way, when the lightning deals start with limited quantities, all you have to do is check out!
Okay, now it’s time for my recommendations!
My Top 5 Deals to Watch For
- Instant Pot
You had to know I was going to say this. 😉 My love for my Instant Pot is well-known around here. Almost two years later, it hasn’t waned a bit. It saves me hours in the kitchen, saves me money in utility costs, and makes the most tender, flavorful meat I’ve ever eaten. What’s not to love?
You guys. I love my Roomba. It was a godsend when we got it almost two years ago. In the spirit of full disclosure, it’s starting to get a little worn out, but it has held up through a LOT of heavy use. And a quick fix of a few new parts should bring a lot of life back to it. Regardless, I’ve told my husband many times that even if I have to get a new one every few years, it’s still 100% worth it to me.
I am rarely without my Fitbit Charge. I love this thing. It detects my heart rate for more accurate fitness tracking, keeps me accountable to move throughout the day, and, of course, tells the time. I get a lot of use out of the app, too, with the sleep, exercise, and water tracking. The latest version even enables you to track fertility and menstrual cycles. What???
Full sets of pots and pans are an expensive investment, so if you’re needing a set, now is the perfect time to get it. This is the set I have, and it’s already CRAZY on sale.
- Magformers Magnet Tiles (or other pricey toys)
In all honesty, we have a knock-off brand of Magformers, but if I could have gotten the real deal at knock-off prices, I would have jumped at the chance. And actually, I may pick up a set on sale for the boys for Christmas!
My Top Deals I’m Watching For
- Stick vacuum
Yes, my Roomba is AWESOME, but there are times when I just want to vacuum a small section of floor (like under my kids’ chairs at the table #somanycrumbs) or around all the toys (just being real). And the Handvac would be SOOO handy for the vehicle.
- Wireless Earbuds
This is random, but I’ve been wanting some wireless earbuds forever. Walking in the evenings by myself is my favorite way to get a little breathing time after a day with the kids. And I almost always listen to my favorite podcasts while I walk. But my dangling earbud cord drives me bananas. So I’m hoping to snag a pair of wireless buds on sale.
- USA Muffin Pan
I’ve been hearing rave reviews about these nonstick pans, and I’ve had it on my wish list for months. They don’t require any liners, grease, or spray, and they slide right out of the pan. Like magic. I make a LOT of muffins, so if the price is right, I will be getting one of these during Prime Day.
- Hi-Powered Countertop Hot Plate
As most of you know, I do a whole lot of canning of our vegetables in the summer (and chicken broth throughout the year. And, unfortunately, we have an electric glass-top stove. Which doesn’t play nicely with pressure canners. We finally pushed our luck too far this year, and two of my burners went out. Sad!
We, of course, plan to fix our burners, but I’m concerned about the same thing happening again. (We’ve had our stove for less than two years!) A gas stove would be wonderful, but not feasible at this time.
So, we’re on the market for a countertop hot plate powerful enough to can on. This one comes highly recommended by fellow canners, so I’m going to see if I can score a deal on Prime Day!
I hope that helps! Like I said, I don’t want to push you to spend money you shouldn’t, but if there’s something you’ve been wanting or needing for a while, this is the perfect time to get it.
I hope my guide helps, and may the deals be ever in your favor this Prime Day.
