Working out can be really difficult with small children. I have three kids. I get it.
But I strongly believe that it’s important that you, as the mom, continue to take care of your body so that you can better take care of theirs.
And to help you do that, I’m going to tell you about my favorite workouts for busy moms that have worked well for me.

My Favorite At-Home Workouts for Busy Moms

TurboFire with Chalene Johnson
I’ve tried a lot of workout programs, DVDs, and systems, but Turbo Fire is my favorite.
I always say it’s a cross between kickboxing and Zumba. It combines cardio, strength, and interval training with fun, fast-paced choreography. It’s high enough intensity to give you a great cardio workout, but flexible enough to meet your particular workout needs.
It comes with a wide variety of workouts, ranging in times from 15 minutes to 60 minutes, so there’s something for every day and every schedule! The workouts are super fun, and the variety keeps me from getting bored, which I tend to do very quickly!
You can get TurboFire through the Beachbody website. It is not currently available through Amazon, although they do have the very similar TurboJam, also led by Chalene Johnson.

Jessica Smith TV
I discovered Jessica Smith TV on YouTube when I was pregnant with my second child. The walking workouts are not quite what I’m looking for on a regular basis, but they were great for the first trimester (when I was nauseous and exhausted all the time) and in the third trimester (when I was dealing with hip pain and Braxton Hicks).
Walking videos aren’t all Jessica Smith TV offers. She also has HIIT workouts, body sculpting, yoga & pilates, and more! I have enjoyed her 20 Minute Fat Burning Cardio Workout. So far, I’ve only done her free YouTube videos, but she also has workout DVDs.

BodyFit by Amy
This is my newest YouTube find, and I love her channel. I did all her prenatal workouts when I was pregnant with my third baby, and her postnatal workouts were perfect for after she was born.

Amy truly has something for everyone, and it’s all FREE! I also highly recommend following her on Instagram where she offers lots of tips and bonus workouts.

Jillian Michaels
Jillian has been with me from the very beginning of my fitness journey. When I started getting serious about a workout regime, hers were my go-to DVDs.
You will definitely get a workout with Jillian, but I like that the moves are not technically difficult or hard on my joints. And the variety of DVDs she has out is amazing. There is something for every body part, fitness level, and time availability!
I’m confident that among the variety of workouts for busy moms available from the four ladies above, you can find something that works for you!

I LOVE Jessica Smith. I was doing Jessica walking workouts while I was +110 pounds overweight and couldn’t do other exercise than walking. I haven’t workout for a while now. Hmm… thanks for reminding me… and motivate me 😉 PS Achievement app sounds interesting. Thanks for sharing info!
A fellow Jessica Smith enthusiast – yay!
I’m so glad I could remind and motivate you. Congratulations on the healthy lifestyle changes!
This is great timing. My kids had an entire week off school last week due to snow and I was going crazy trying to fit in a workout. I was doing old P90X videos, but I’m so bored with them. Mostly I just need some fresh ideas. I’ve heard great things about the Jillian Michaels videos, so I’m glad you mentioned that one! Thanks for the ideas 🙂
You’ll like Jillian Michaels. I think she has something for everyone!
If you’ve done P90X, I think you’d like TurboFire or TurboJam. I did the Insanity workout a few years ago, and it was a great workout, but I didn’t really care for it. TurboFire is so fun, you’ll almost forget you’re working out!
This post is awesome! So many great ideas for busy mamas. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you! 🙂
I got a Fitbit Charge 2 for Christmas and have been trying to figure it out with tracking my workouts. I really like the movement/walking reminders though. 🙂
Aren’t they great??
What part are you struggling with on the workout tracking? I would love to help!
I’m currently doing the 30 day shred! I love that its only 20 minutes and you really do get fast results!
Good for you! The 30 Day Shred was the very first one I started with, and it worked great for jumpstarting my weight loss and daily fitness discipline.
