31 Scriptures to pray over your children
I have placed my son, Aidan’s, name into the verses, but you can replace his name with the names of your own children and use the appropriate pronouns.
(All Scripture passages are from the New Living Translation, unless otherwise noted.)
Psalm 86:11 – Teach Aidan Your ways, O Lord, that he may live according to Your truth! Grant Aidan purity of heart, so that he may honor You.
John 10:4-5 – Aidan will follow the Lord because he will know His voice. He won’t follow a stranger; he will run from him because he does not know his voice.”
Ezra 8:22 – Our God’s hand of protection is on all who worship him. God, I pray that Aidan will worship You, and I believe that Your hand of protection will be upon him.
Proverbs 3:5-6 – I pray that Aidan will trust in the Lord with all his heart. He will not depend on his own understanding. He will seek Your will in all he does, and You will show him which path to take.
Ephesians 2:10 – Aidan is God’s masterpiece. He created him anew in Christ Jesus so that he can do the good things He planned for him long ago.

2 Timothy 2:22 – Aidan will run from anything that stimulates youthful evil desires. Instead, he will pursue righteous living, faithfulness, love, and peace. He will enjoy the companionship of those who call on the Lord with pure hearts.
Psalm 140:1-5 – Lord, rescue Aidan from evil people. Protect him from those who are violent, those who plot evil in their hearts and stir up trouble all day long…. Lord, keep him out of the hands of the wicked. Protect him from those who are violent, though they may plot against him or set traps for him.
1 Peter 3:18 – I pray that Aidan will grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
I Thessalonians 5:6 – I pray that Aidan will be on his guard and not spiritually asleep like those around him. I pray he will stay alert and clear-headed.
Psalm 19:9-10 – I pray that Aidan will have lasting reverence for the Lord, that he will find the Word of the Lord more desirable than gold and sweeter than honey.
1 Peter 2:17 – Aidan will show proper respect for everyone and will love the family of believers. He will fear God and respect those in authority over him.
Deuteronomy 31:6 – Aidan will be strong and courageous! He will not be afraid or panic. For you, Lord, will personally go ahead of him. You will neither fail him nor abandon him.
Psalm 51:10 – Create in Aidan a clean heart, God. Renew a loyal spirit within him.
1 Thessalonians 5:15 – Aidan will not pay back evil for evil, but will always try to do good to all people.
Galatians 6:5 – Lord, help Aidan to be responsible for his own conduct, as you have instructed us.
Psalm 63:8 – Instill in Aidan a spirit that clings to you. May he always know that your strong right hand holds him securely.
Matthew 22:37 – I pray that Aidan will love the Lord with all his heart, with all his soul, and with all his mind.
Ephesians 1:17-19 – Lord, I pray that You will give Aidan spiritual wisdom and insight so that he will grow in the knowledge of God. I pray that his heart will be flooded with light so that he can understand the confident hope You have given to us. I also pray that he will understand the incredible greatness of God’s power for us.
Ephesians 3:17-19 – I pray that Aidan’s roots will grow deep into God’s love and keep him strong. I pray that he will have the power to understand how wide, how long, how high, and how deep God’s love for us is. I pray that he will experience the love of Christ, so that he will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.
Ephesians 6:1-3 – Aidan is obedient, because he belongs to the Lord. He will honor us so that things will go well for him and he will have a long life on the earth.
Psalm 1:1-3 – Aidan will not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand around with sinners, or join in with mockers. He will delight in the law of the Lord, meditating on it day and night. He will be like a tree planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season. His leaves will never wither, and he will prosper in all he does.
Psalm 119:11, 14, 15 – Aidan will hide Your Word in his heart, so that he will not sin against you…. He will rejoice in Your laws as much as riches. He will study Your commandments and reflect on Your ways.
Psalm 91:9-11, 15-16 – Aidan will make the Lord his refuge. No evil will conquer him, no plaque will come near him. The Lord will order His angels to protect him wherever he goes…. When Aidan calls on the name of the Lord, He will answer. He will be with Aidan in times of trouble, He will rescue and honor him. He will reward Aidan with a long life and give him His salvation.
1 John 4:4 (NIV) – The One who is in Aidan is greater than the one who is in the world.
Mark 4:20 – Aidan’s heart will be like good soil. He will hear and accept God’s Word and produce a harvest of a hundred times as much as had been planted.
Deuteronomy 13:4 – Aidan will serve only the Lord our God and will fear Him alone. He will obey God’s commands, listen to His voice, and cling to Him.
1 Timothy 4:12 – Aidan will be an example to everyone in what he says, in the way he lives, in his love, in his faith, and in his purity.
Romans 12:2 – Aidan will not copy the behavior and customs of this world, but will let God transform him into a new person. Then he will learn to know God’s will for his life.
Proverbs 3:24-25 – Aidan will go to bed without fear. He will lie down and sleep soundly. He will not be afraid of sudden disaster or destruction, for the Lord is his security.
